What is HKSAS Jockey Club "RESTORE" Youth Empowerment Project ?

Revamping Residential Children Care Service to TIC Program

Process of healing of traumatised children can be seen in daily life. Parents, mentors, teachers, coaches, counsellors case managers or medical professionals play remedial roles throughout the journey of restoration from traumatisation.

For children and youths, their needs of residential care service may be caused by a temporary lack of appropriate care. If those in need whom had been traumatised during either children or adolescence, a paradigm was later developed. Handling of interpersonal conflicts, mood swing, psychological responses, cognition construction, learning patterns and other life experience will be affected under the paradigm. It can be a catastrophe for their growth if there are not any proper identification, intervention and support.

Hong Kong Student Aid Society Jockey Club “RESTORE” Youth Empower Project aims to introduce Trauma Informed Care (TIC) to existing residential children care service. It strives to rebuild hopes for the children and youths as well as their parents, conusellors and carers. Through empowerment, the project enables the children with unpleasant experience to overcome the trauma and to restore from there. Also, exploration of individual potential and uniqueness bring great benefits to their life journey.
